Expectations..Thoughts FROM THE SOUL...

Have you ever expected something wonderful to happen from someone or something,
BUT didn't quite get what you were expecting..

Or expected a person to behave in a certain way...
to say or do a certain thing...

Expecting to be amazed by the world around you..
to explore the four corners of this vast Earth that you have heard so much about.

ONLY TO FIND CLOSED EYES and EARS
to sincere efforts of comfort, compassion and love;
to the efforts of others,
to the expressions of emotion that the closed eyes would only see as you trying to destroy them...

ONLY TO FIND OPPRESSION..
Men, women and children sleeping in cardboard houses under highway bridges;
who have lost their homes that they thought was the "American Dream".
OR
People afraid to speak out against injustice for fear of abandonment by their friends, their families, or society as a whole.

ONLY TO FIND DESPAIR..
People going to jobs that they hate..slavery is alive and kicking again in America, and if you are thinking "well not for ME it isn't" THINK AGAIN.. If you are working for someone else...working their hours...only able to go to the bathroom or eat when THEY allow...paying a 30 year mortgage for 30 YEARS .. or hiding out from the "repo man"... then my friends, YOU are a slave to these things whether you like it or not.

ONLY TO FIND HATRED..
hatred of the inner-self;
from others wanting what you have;
towards you due to the color of your skin or lack of;
hatred for decency and display of good character;
hatred towards the poor;

ONLY TO FIND ABUSE
Mental..
Verbal..
Sexual..
Domestic..
Child...
Physical...

My EXPECTATIONS are HIGH..

I will say it again, and again, and again...

My EXPECTATIONS are HIGH!!
For myself, those I love and those who say that they love me...for me.

Someone once told me that people will ALWAYS fall short of your expectations.
We are human after all. This same person told me to put my trust in The Almighty, The Watcher, The Disposer of Affairs...for He will NEVER fall short of your expectations and will always come through for you.

So I Expect that
HE will be there for me to guide me,
HE will HEAR me when I complain,
HE will SEE me..and not turn me away,
HE will comfort me..

My expectations are high...My Expectations Are High....
MY
EXPECTATIONS
ARE
HIGH!!!

Poetry, Rhythm & Rhyme...

by Huniie Holly

The pens danced.......

Out on a walk with her pen one day
She got tripped up by this strange pen
It was not at all like hers
As she meet its owner
Watching as he dominated it
Ever so smoothly it flowed
He decided to challenge hers
Of back and forth they went
A master at words
It was more like he held a paint brush in his hand
The pictures he painted
Took her on new journeys
She was whisked off onto paths unimagined
A stirring she started to feel
On a level
Of poetic stimulus
She had never known
Watching as both pens started to dance
Around each other
Watching waiting to see what the next move would be
Up his would dance
Around hers did go
A slash here
Dashing there
Until master piece after master piece
Was born
Inspiration both did find
Exploring new thoughts and concepts
Till she wondered if
It was getting to deep
For now both pens feeding off of each others energy
They watched and peeped waiting one for the other
Now
That
Their pens had learned to dance,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Go Deep (From the double album "VICTORY")

Woman

Tonight

I’m going deep

I want to explore the contour of your ocean floor

I want you to feel my manhood

slide deep inside your womanly waters

I want you to feel each backstroke

as I dive and soak

in your wetness

like the rivers of the Nile

Tonight

I’m going in for a swim

and I intend to descend

tongue first to test your extreme depths

I'll hold my breath

and let my tongue deep dive and explore

corridors of your crevice

where no man’s tongue has ever gone before

Tonight I'm going deep

Plunging deep inside of you

immersing my tongue in a circular motion

Tonight

I'm a pearl diver

looking for your pearl tongue

submerging to the deepest regions of your ocean

Tonight I'm going deep

Using my tongue to dive deeper than your surface

while searching for your buried treasure

holding my breath

while licking the erogenous zones

that bring your body pleasure

I'll begin by lifting your brows

while getting you mentally aroused

whispering in your ear

to stimulate your cerebral hemisphere

then I’ll dive deep within your pink pool

with no fear of drowning

because I use Magnum XLs for my deep diving gear

So go ahead and remove your skirt

so I can deep dive undercover

tonight I’ll make you squirt

as my penis probes inner regions your former lovers failed to discover

Woman don't be nervous

I know those other lovers only penetrated your surface

but tonight I'm diving deeper than they ever went

I'm going to make love to you until I experience back spasms

I want your mind to explode in mental orgasms

I want you to feel every inch of my presence

I'm going deep to prove that no other man could ever penetrate this deep inside your feminine essence

Tonight

I’m diving deep

inch by inch causing your walls to expand

Tonight I’ll dive so deep

that I'll make you scream Damn!

I LOVE YOU BLACK MAN!

I’ll explore inner caverns

causing your backbone tingle

I'll dive all the way down

I promise not to drown

I'm an experienced deep diving Mandingo

I'll have you telling your friends

I’m a deep diving aquamarine

because when I descend

deep within

I intend to go so deep that I leave my imprints on your spleen

But woman I want you to realize

I'm interested in diving deeper than your surface level

I know the sexual overtones of this poem

are making you feel cynical

But I’m diving deep

because I also want to take you to the highest intellectual, spiritual and sexual pinnacle

See I'm not shallow

and I know those other men in your past were shallow swimmers

who weren't mature

and too inexperienced to explore your inner core

but I'm the man who's willing to go deep

until I touch the bottom of your ocean floor

Woman

lay next to me

I'm not satisfied with satisfying you sexually

or feeling the tsunami of your love overflow in ecstasy

I want to dive deep inside your mind to satisfy you intellectually

Let me show you the depth and profundity of my love!

During this deep diving expedition

I’m on a mission to prove my affection

I want you to see that I have something bigger to offer than a well endowed erection

I want to dive deep inside your mind

my tongue will provide the lubrication

After play is the time for intimate communication

verbal penetration and

mental stimulation

And once I've made you experience a mental ejaculation

I'll stroke your hair while you sleep

my after play will make you say

that poet goes deep!

Lady Flava's Side Note about Sophia May & MoeRoc:

I heard the watched this video on facebook after Teresa Mullins from here in my area shared it and was so inspired when thinking of the youth project that Flava News is apart of with a youth organization called "Unleash the Brilliance" I then reached out to Teresa to see if she could put in in touch with Sophia May and MoeRoc and sure enough...Teresa helped to connect the dots and soon I was in contact by email with Sophia May. Sophia May and MoeRoc have graciously agree to let Flava News use this special piece, "Believe" for our chapbook and CD fundraiser project for Unleash the Brilliance. What a blessing to have these two amazing artists from the UK agree to participate in this project out of the Pacific Northwest but for all youth across the globe.

Mr. Ripley
Relationship Guru

Dear Mr. Ripley,

My family and friends don't care for my boyfriend too much. As a matter of fact, they pretty much hate him. See, he and I don't have the best of relationships but I love him with all my heart, plus we have a beautiful daughter together. How do I make it work or should I say, can I do anything to change the way they feel about him?

-HIPPIE32-

Dear Hippie32,

I want you to take a step back and try to figure out why your family doesn't like this guy. They are on the outside looking in but remember, love is blind. Therefore you sound like you are blind to what everyone else can clearly see. Also, I'm sure that when you vent your frustrations about this relationship to your family or friends, you have nothing GOOD to say about ole boy. So, why would you expect them to like someone who puts you through so much crap and that they only hear BAD things about? I had a friend who used to vent to me about her "special friend" (he would never label her his girlfriend) and she'd talk about him like a dog. But as soon as I agree and talk about him too, she'd get defensive and start taking up for him. And I was saying the exact same thing she was. But that is a sign showing how confused she was. And it sounds like you are confused also. So basically as far as your relationship with him goes, if it continues u will have little to no support from the people that love you. They will NEVER like this guy unless they start seeing you HAPPY. This would be an indication that things are going in the right direction and maybe, just maybe he is treating you like you deserve to be treated. But as long as they see you miserable and stressing, you'll be by yourself on this one, baby.

Flava News + Unleash The Brilliance =
A creative approach to reaching out to, showing support for,
and impressing upon ones own power
to strive for a stronger tomorrow.
We believe in our future...we believe in
"Our Youth"
Unleash The Brilliance!

Flava News has joined hands with a youth organization called "Unleash the Brilliance, UTB." UTB works with at-risk youth in providing peer/adult mentorship through time and creativity. Flava News and UTB have decided to collaborate on a variety of projects working directly with the youth and their parents and or guardians. We are exploring creative ways to bring awareness to the projects along with impressing upon others to get involved by making in-kind donations, considering to become an investor or sponsor to support the mission and vision of this great cause, our future, our youth.

This is a perfect union for both organizations and we are excited about the possibilities we can create together to make a difference for the youth of our communities. Unleash The Brilliance. We invite you to get involved. We invite you to become apart of our village.

Flava News & UTB have three ways that you, the creative souls can get involved with.

  • A chapbook that is full of uplifting poems, lyrics or short stories and or letters regarding subjects that can be uplifting for struggling youth and their parents and or guardians.
  • The second project is a audio CD with a variety of pieces that also is uplifting and encouraging.
  • We invite artists to participate in the scheduled workshops in giving a 2-5 minute presentation using your creativity to impress upon the youth to invest in themselves by finishing their education. The workshops take place throughout the Kent, Renton, Tukwila & Seattle area and you can participate as you are available. (Of course this is for Local Artist)

One of the contracts that UTB has is is working with at-risk youth that are struggling with attendance issues at school, they are failing classes and at-risk of being suspended from school to the point that the King County Truancy Court have become involved. Unleash the Brilliance has regularly scheduled workshops that meets with the youth and parents and or guardian.s The goal of UTB is to come up with a variety of creative ways to reach the youth regarding the importance of continuing their education. Another concern that will be addressed is, why the youth are skipping school, identifying the core issue, to exploring a resolution with the youth, parents and or guardian that will comply with the Truancy Court.

If you are interested in getting involved by donating a piece or your time, please contact us at: utb@flavanews.com

If you are interested in making an in-kind donation no matter how big or small you can go to: www.paypal.com and use utb@flavanews.com and identify the donation as "UTB"

I thank you for your time and consideration. Flava News and UTB looks forward to the possibilities of what we can do for our future, or youth with your help.

Sincerely,

Lady Flava

We Belong Together
by Barbara Grovner

It’s hard to imagine the death of a close family member. Especially when it is someone you admire and look up to, and most especially when it is your very own sister. It’s also hard to imagine why anyone would want your sweet and loving sister dead. Who could possibly want to hurt her, let alone kill her?

Kara’s death caused deep heartache among those who loved her, but soon it became apparent that her killer was someone who knew her, and knew her
very well.

An extensive and painstaking investigation, rattles and shakes
the lives of those who loved Kara, until the truth comes tumbling out.

Swift Tongues

Seattle, WA

Following the deaths of Tupac and Biggie Smalls, Swift Tongues identified a void within the hip-hop community. He began working diligently to perfect several rap styles, which led to the emergence of Swift Tongues. His multiple delivery methods have drawn him comparisons to Tupac, Jay-Z, Scarface, Biggie, Ice Cube, and Common and can be considered a conglomerate of all the great ones.
..

Swift Tongues was born J. Mitchell in Seattle, WA, on October 14, 1979. His mother and fathers drug addictions forced his grandmother to step in and act as a guardian for him and his younger brother. Swifts upbringing in West Seattle exposed him to drugs and alcoholism at a young age and he began selling the same poison that destroyed his family.
..

The emergence of his talent that had manifested was released at 15 years old when he wrote his first song entitled, fallen solider where he delivered the heart-wrenching story of the death of a childhood friend.
..

His rapid ascent to stardom was put on hold due to the death of his best friend June Bug. Following the death, Swift began his spiral downwards and became heavily involved in hustling and gang activity to help fill the void.
..

Swift Tongues childhood can be held in connection with his unorthodox delivery, which moves from pain to triumph as he vividly depicts his real life trials and tribulations using tracks as his canvas.
..

Currently Swift Tongues is working on multiple projects, his mixed tape entitled “Scavenger Hunt” and album entitled “Personal Vendetta"

Lady Flava's Side Note on this Artist:

I am a new comer to the fanbase of Swift Tongues of Seattle, WA. I came to know him on facebook, to soon have some of his pieces to share on my radio show and received his press kit allowing me to glance into this artist that goes by the name of Swift Tongues. If you know me, you know I love to think outside the box and creativity catches my attention. I have said this many times on my show and to those I come in contact with in person, Swift Tongues has one of the BEST press kits that I have received EVER. Creative and Informative. As you will see by the above video, he is taking his creativity to create the visual behind the words, while sharing the limelight with just a few other creative souls of the Pacific Northwest...
Stay tune for more from Swift Tongues...

The Return of Dope Emporium...

Seattle's one & only TRUE HIP-HOP festival returns!

Dope Emporium was created to establish the social, political, communal and financial platform or storefront for DOPE artist from the Northwest. The purpose was to make sure all voices, ideas, creativity and thoughts had a place to bring forth this expression to the public and let them decide if this was intoxicating, original and refreshing enough to be considered "DOPE".

This year, we are returning to our roots and focusing back on our community and our youth. We want this to be an outlet for DOPE artists of all ages to be presented. There will be performances, vendors, workshops, panel discussions and more.

If you are interested in sponsoring or setting up a vendor table, please contact us at dopeemporium@gmail.com

We are now accepting submissions from artists to be considered for performance. Please also send high-quality EPK's to dopeemporium@gmail.com

Submission requirements: Those interested in performing or contributing art/video work should email a note stating so with a link to an online site hosting your work. Music submissions: performers must have finished product available (music recorded), promotional material (artist bio) available online (website) and samples of your work (at least 3 tracks) available for review online. Bboy/Bgirl submissions: must have promotional material and online video available for review. Graffiti art submissions: submit 3 digital samples of your work or link to a website where your work is available for review. Video submissions: send an online link to the video you wish to submit.

As well, please forward this info to anyone you think may be interested, especially if you work with youth. We are seeking youth performers, interns & volunteers.

Lady Flava's Corner

Sharing my Thoughts with You

A little over a month ago I started an online Artist's Round Table which is taking place every other Monday 5:30pm PST and then opposite Monday's at 12:30pm PST. This is where Artists and Service Providers to Artists can come and put there thoughts and concerns on the table with others of like mind. When I started this, I had not clue how it would take off and let me tell you it has been something special. Artist's have participated from across the globe in the online discussions with a tremendous number coming back to listen to the archives.

The whole idea stemmed from a numerous amount of side bar conversations I have had and thought, why not bring it to the airwaves and share with whom ever may not to hear and participate. The feedback has been great and I will have to say it is one of my favorite shows to do with you and for you.

Come by and take a listen, better yet call in and participate. We even have some fans coming by to share their thoughts.

Every Monday
5:30pm PST, 7:30pm CST & 8:30pm EST
opposite weeks
12:30pm PST, 2:30pm CST & 3:30pm EST
