Travis Vp Fox
aka Black Poe

How under the Heavens is one man supposed to escape the clutches of
the most devastating killers in creation with a thirst for blood fueled
with their unmitigated desires for vengeance?

That is the dilemma that the protagonist of my recently completed
novel, In the Heart of the City, has faced the very moment he released
his finger from the trigger of the weapon that claimed the life of his
highest profiled victim. Set in the cities of Philadelphia, Seattle, New
York, Moscow, this is a character driven 70,000 word fast moving
thriller with flowing action scenes, unforeseen betrayals, laced with
seductive midnight fantasies.

Terrence Daniels, a man without a past, has given up hope and is
determined to live the only life that he as ever known, the life of a
cold blooded killer. An outsider living in Japan, preparing for the
cancellation of his latest victim, fate stepped in, in the form of an
exotic, mysterious goddess, and forever erased the linear line of his
destiny. Unable to carry out the murder, Terrence flees with the
mysterious stranger back to his home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Living in peace, his secure state of solace, was shaken to the core
once again. Given one last assignment, Terrence for the sake of his
family reluctantly agrees to carry out the mission. What should have
been just another job fell victim to the universal law that, “The best
laid plans of mice and men often go awry,” John Steinbeck’s of Mice and
Men. The accidental killing of the wife and infant son of the most
powerful man in the Philadelphia Russian Brava has set off a tidal wave
death and destruction, the likes of which the city has never seen. Now
Terrence and all that he holds sacred is in the crosshairs of every
criminal in the city looking to collect the bounty that has been nailed
to their heads. What will he do to escape their clutches, and how will
he use all of his skills to survive the unrelenting savageness that
awaits him In the Heart of the City?

Jennifer Newberry
Seattle Recording Pop Artist

Sweet but independent, Young but experienced, Beautiful but modest, Talented, Poetic and Refreshing are the right words to describe the Swedish/ American artist Jennifer Newberry. With flavors of different cultures, mentalities and styles, Jennifer writes songs straight from her heart. Thoughts and feelings that are melodically expressed with a soulful clear voice. A strum of a guitar or a chord played on the piano is enough to feed her inspiration to create a song. Melodies have always come easily to Jennifer and she has been perfecting her ability to write since the age of 14.

Born in a small town of United States, Jennifer grew up in a home filled with song. Her mother a singer encouraged Jennifer constantly. Her father an Army pilot whose career often times forced the family to relocate from state to state. Moving from San Diego to Germany arriving finally at her mother’s hometown of Sundsvall, Sweden where Jennifer grew up. Her mother, Marie, influenced her with all kinds of music from the Beatles to ABBA, Soul to Swedish lullaby songs as well as Jazz and the Blues. Marie laid the foundation by teaching her the techniques behind singing, running through scales and practicing harmonies.

Being involved in the music business through her mother’s endeavors prepared Jennifer for her unofficial entrance into recording and performing records of her own. A chance meeting with local music producers in her hometown presented opportunities to record original material, ultimately perfecting Jennifer’s studio recording ability. Jennifer got the opportunity to record a cover called “Jump To the Beat” feat. Melody MC, which was later released in Japan when Jennifer was 18. Not only did she get to work and collaborate with some of the most recognized hip-hop producers in Sweden, but she also sang on many hip-hop and pop artists albums.

Jennifer seized every opportunity she could and inevitably exploited every musical situation. Jennifer got the chance to be apart of “Melodifestivalen 2002”, a Swedish televised music competition to select an Artist/Group to represent Sweden in the European Music Festival (Euro Vision Contest) with the song “Ingenting Ingenting” (Nothing, Nothing) the song was released commercially right after the finals. Later on that summer she was asked to be a backup singer for Lutricia McNeal, a well-known American artist in Europe. Jennifer toured with her the entire summer. Shortly after, she decided to take a chance on returning back to the States. In her venture of moving from Seattle to New York and back again she recorded her first album “Be Who You Are”, took acting lessons a Weist-Barron, performed at the UN Building, Good Morning America (ABC) and at a NJ NETS game she also performed at the Apollo, showcased at S.O.B’s, had her music played on the radio, became the lead singer of a band named 4More that performs on weekly basis in different venues around Washington and Oregon State. Now she has formed her own original band is working on her 2nd album “Inspiration From The Rain” and it’s planned to be released by the end of this year.

Jennifer has always had a clear ambitious picture of what she wanted to do with her life; to be successful in her own right, to be a memorable performer, vocalist, lyricist and actress. Her dreams are coming true day by day as news catches on about her talent. Jennifer is hoping that her heart and soul will reach out not only to commercial interest but also people, of all walks of life.

"Diary of A Tired Black Man"
Filmmaker Tim Alexander

http://www.tiredblackman.com/

Tim Alexander - Writer/Producer/Director/Cinematographer/Editor/Composer

Born Sept 12, 1959, Tim Alexander was raised by his mother and father along with his two younger sisters in Los Angeles, California. He knows the importance of a father and a man in a child's life. Tim grew up with his father in the home and clearly states that he would not be the man he is today if his father was not there.

Who is Tim Alexander today? At 49, he is a hard working man, is successfully married, the father of twin boys as well as co-father to two older boys previously born to his wife Chanin. As their father, he wants to give everything he has ever experienced to the boys to ensure their positive growth and futures in the world - the key word is positive.

Tim Alexander understands that we are a product of what we were raised to be. Though there are exceptions he feels they are very small in number compared to the rule - we are a product of our environment.

He feels both he and his sisters are a clear example of this rule, in both positive, and negative demonstration. All three share similar traits of their mother and father. None have ever smoked, drank or experimented with drugs, as they never saw it at home. None of them have a college education just as their parents did not and education was not pushed. Their father was a junior high school dropout and similarly, Tim Alexander is a high school dropout. Despite the lack of formal education, their mother and father were hard workers who demonstrated and required good work ethics resulting in successful careers for their three children. Like their parents, Tim and his sisters are strong positive influential parents to their children.

Tim Alexander is the self-made man he is today because his dad taught him step by step how to be a man. He taught Tim to 'never give up' and to 'make it work'. Just as his father was self-employed, Tim has always made his own way never taking a job that he did not create for himself.

After dropping out of high school Tim Alexander taught himself how to be a locksmith at the early age of 17. When his sister was getting married, she asked Tim to photograph the wedding, because in her words, ”Tim can do anything”. He didn't even own a camera at the time so he rented a camera, shot the wedding and decided to become a wedding photographer. Three weddings were enough for him and he changed his direction to shooting models instead.

That decision led to a 28-year career as a world traveled fashion photographer and make-up artist. He later established Castle Studio, a web design, retouching, print design and visual marketing company that worked with celebrity clientele.

This background has lead Tim creatively to where he is today, a filmmaker. He has successfully obtained distribution for his first self-produced film. Over-achiever, Tim Alexander wrote, produced, directed, shot, edited and scored Diary Of A Tired Black Man himself. The film's a message for us all.

We Belong Together
by Barbara Grovner

It’s hard to imagine the death of a close family member. Especially when it is someone you admire and look up to, and most especially when it is your very own sister. It’s also hard to imagine why anyone would want your sweet and loving sister dead. Who could possibly want to hurt her, let alone kill her?

Kara’s death caused deep heartache among those who loved her, but soon it became apparent that her killer was someone who knew her, and knew her
very well.

An extensive and painstaking investigation, rattles and shakes
the lives of those who loved Kara, until the truth comes tumbling out.

We Belong Together has been released by InnerVision Books and is NOW AVAILABLE for only $4.00 to download this great read at: http://innervisionbooks.com/ebookpages/webelong.html

Lady Flava's
Corner

June 5, 2010 Launch 2.0 (Let's Connect) Presented by Ijo Arts Media Group & Flava News featuring Yirim Seck. LaRue (together known as Black Aries) and introducing Mike Mack & Harlem.

I will have to be honest as I process how to write this. 3 months of planning went into this event. The goal was to bring together during the industry mixer a variety of media members, business owners and service providers to the artist community. During the mixer we hoped to explore how we all might connect and grow in taking the arts scene in the Seattle area to a new level if we could create a solid networking group amongst the attendees. To then finishing out the night with an amazing hip hop showcase from our featured artists.

Many RSVP'd that they would attend the mixer along with those that said they would attend the hip hop showcase. My heart sank as the room felt so big and empty. The attendance was very low from what we all anticipated.

The group of Launch 2.0 came to the stage and we all introduced ourselves and told a little about ourselves.

DJ Trademark from Olympia, WA was amazing on the table...spinning the perfect sounds and falling right into the place with the needs of all the artists.

Mike Mack and Harlem started the night out with amazing energy showing off their young natural talents...what a presence. Next to the stage was LaRue bringing it a little harder than the first with his own style and story. Yirim Seck then joins him on stage where they performed together as the duo known as Black Aries. Next Yirim Seck performs with hotness as he worked the stage. We finished the night out with bringing to the stage again, Mike Mack & Harlem who challenged the other artist to a freestyle battle...I could not have asked for a better perforance outr of theses amazing artists even though the numbers were not there, the artist's all performed as if it was a full house. Inye & I were very proud of all of them.

I want to personally thank my all my children for coming out. I want to thank Felicia Wray from Chiick Bizziness, Johnny McCord from Lynx Records, Katherine Humes, Tao Palmer from Rarefied Heir, Life Cylce, LeNard Jones from the Goodybagg, Lady Scribe, JC Flow, Black Stax & friends, Terrell Jones, B Rock, Jazmyn Scott from The Town Entertainment, Jimaine Miller from Tha Stahi Bros to all the others that I did not have the opportunity to meet in person. I thank you for your support of my first, but not last hip hip showcase. I want to thank Tom Wood and The Woodshed Studios for allowing us the space and freedom of how we wanted this event to go down to working with us on making last minute changes. I have to thank DJ Trademark for sharing his amazing flava and services for our artists and audience.

A dear friend asked me as I cried the day after this event...How do you define a successful event? He helped me realize although the bodies were not there...so much went right and the artists put on one hell of a show that you missed out on!

Last but not least, I thank Yirim Seck, LaRue, Mike Mack & Harlem along with Inye Wokoma-Ijo Arts, Michael Blake-Blake Management and La-JB Worldwide for being apart of this event. In the end, I must say, I am so very very proud of Launch 2.0 (Let's Connect)

Peace & Blessings,

Susan "Lady Flava" Koshi

BLACK STAX

"TALKING BUILDINGS"

May 27, 2010 the much talked about and promoted event arrives to the well known venue, the Nectar Lounge in the Fremont Community of North Seattle. The event was the Black Stax "Talking Buildings" Album Release Party. As a newcomer to the Hip Hop scene I entered the Nectar with great anticipation as to what I would experience along with the many fans and I am sure even a few haters that felted the need to be a witness to what was about to go down. I nestled myself into a perfect spot in the loft area directly above the stage so I had the opportunity to see the people as the entered the Nectar as I had a great view of the stage.

DJ Gumbeaux is on the tables...setting the mood and putting out the sounds of a variety of artists and beats. The tone is being set as the people come streaming into this building. People meeting and greeting...all ready to experience what Black Stax has in store for us this evening.

As DJ Gumbeaux continues to pump out the sounds, a beautiful young woman, Toyia Taylor sets foot on the stage, engaging the audience with dialogue around the tracks that could be heard that night...creating the feeling of sitting in your home listening and feeling the vibe of your favorite artists. Next to the stage joining her in the skit was one of my favorite people, Delton Son doing some freestlyling...moving into Lady Tasz gracing us with her funky sound.

All eyes are pealed towards the stage as JaWaan LaRue aka LaRue hits the stage hard, bringing fiyah with this tracks " Rise Up" to ending with "Mr. International." Joining LaRue on stage is Yirim Seck. Together the make up the hip hop duo known as Black Aries. I was like a proud Mama. I work closely with both of these artists and this was honestly my very first time seeing them on stage. They booth know how to work the stage and the crowd. Although, as I state I am new to all of this, I felt that these artists were a perfect lead into what Black Stax would soon be bringing to their awaiting audience.

Delton Son comes back to the mic and share his sound again along with expressing his appreciation, respect and history of and with each artist that makes up the group Black Stax...I loved this introduction, giving a glimpse into his personal feelings of these gift artists and everyday people.

The time arrives and Silas Black, Jace ECAj and Felicia Loud make their way to the stage. I myself had to get up off my seat and lean over the rail as if that was going to bring me closer to what was felt through out the air...the building was talking...Talking Buildings. The combination of Jace ECAj and Silas Black along with the soulful sounds of Felicia Loud's sultry voice raise the bar as to what I have come to know as hip hop. Hands waving, heads bobbing along with bodies swaying to the sounds that come from the tables of DJ Gumbeaux through the voices of this eclectic group. I sat and smiled, my heart was filled with such a pride and honor to be a witness to all of this.

The crowd sang along to the songs performed...some new and some older...such as "I Love My Life" to "They Want Me" along with "Marbles." Yirim Seck joins Silas Black on stage to perform one of my very very favorites "Breath Easy"...moving right back into Black Stax.
Towards the end of their performance....they take it to another level as Owour Arunga on his trumpet adding another welcoming twist to the unique sounds of this group

Before this night I had a strong feeling that, although these 3 formed a group, all 3 have their own distinct personalities, look and sound. As I watched them on stage, I could see the differences...but for me it was like a puzzle whose piece fit perfectly.

Toyia Taylor came back on stage as the show came to an end and DJ Gumbeaux continued to play the sounds.

Coming down off my high and my perch in the loft, I make my way down to the floor as the people continue to stay and mingle...sharing the enthusiasm for the nights experience of Black Stax and Friends...to what I believe was a unity in the pure love and respect for Seattle's Hip Hop.

I left the Nector Lounge with a pride that I have been a witness to greatness, knowing I have the ability to share this group with my listeners, readers and fans right here in the Pacific Northwest but more exciting, to those across the United States and Globe. This night gave me a new twist to how I can share Black Stax with the world.

Right after the Talking Buildings Album Release Party in Seattle, Black Stax headed down to California to do a very successful week tour there.

Stay tune...there is so much more to come from Black Stax. If you want to hear good hip hop, real hip hop and the truth...become a fan of Black Stax out of Seattle, WA.
