Jaze Wade Shreveport, LA Alternative / Rock / Pop

Jaze Wade is an International electronic/alternative rock musician that has placed himself on the music map by incorporating several different sounds of music, bringing together music junkies from both the mainstream and underground markets. GRAMMY WINNING PRODUCER Scott Mathews (Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Elvis Costello, Mick Jagger) says "Jaze Wade has a very modern T-REX meets JOHN LENNON in ZIGGY STARDUST’s garage kind of flavor. How can that not work? Jaze is a master of melody and brings his interesting personal life to his lyrics while concocting sounds from outer space, courtesy of his collection of the world’s coolest vintage (1976 – 1982) analog synthesizers."

We Belong Together
by Barbara Grovner

It’s hard to imagine the death of a close family member. Especially when it is someone you admire and look up to, and most especially when it is your very own sister. It’s also hard to imagine why anyone would want your sweet and loving sister dead. Who could possibly want to hurt her, let alone kill her?

Kara’s death caused deep heartache among those who loved her, but soon it became apparent that her killer was someone who knew her, and knew her
very well.

An extensive and painstaking investigation, rattles and shakes
the lives of those who loved Kara, until the truth comes tumbling out.

We Belong Together has been released by InnerVision Books and is NOW AVAILABLE for only $4.00 to download this great read at: http://innervisionbooks.com/ebookpages/webelong.html

Dr.Melody Ivory
Virtuoso of Change

Dr. Melody Ivory serves people who accomplish great things but struggle to feel good about themselves, as well as organizations that need to strategically invest in their people, their richest resource, in order to excel. She relishes her mission to enable people to see themselves through her eyes—as living works of art. This commitment is evident in her personal story.

Her Story

Throughout the first third of my life, I struggled with chronic low self-worth. The seed was planted after experiencing parental abuse and, ultimately, abandonment by age seven. It grew as I experienced abuse in the foster-care system until I “ran away” to college.

Early on, I discovered that I could get attention—a kind word, certificate, or trinket—from my teachers if I did well. So, I set out to build a long list of professional and personal masterpieces—20+ years in technology (including B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in computer science); 20+ years of teaching, mentoring, and coaching; a loving husband and son; and a portfolio of assets.

Despite my accomplishments, I still questioned whether or not I mattered, and I continued to dismiss my gifts and creations. A near-death experience with meningitis forced me to face and resolve this self-worth challenge. Now, I’m able to make even greater contributions to others.

Renaissance Woman
I’ve been blessed with a range of intellectual and artistic gifts, a command of diverse disciplines, and the ability to blend them all—art, technology, and self-help.

I’m committed to developing multi-faceted, multi-disciplinary, transformational solutions that support talented individuals and people-centered organizations in resolving common challenges.

Authentic Hip Hop Music From Seattle to Senegal

Lady Flava's
Corner

I have been racking my brain as to what I wanted to write about for this edition of Flava Coffee House News. The thought came to mind just keep it short and keep it true to how I see things and how I feel.

I preach and continuously talk about word of mouth being a powerful tool in spreading the word for Underground/Indie Artists. Here at Flava News, we try to find creative and somewhat of an aggressive way to be in your face, in hopes that you will pay attention to who we are shinning the light on. The recognition that Flava News is receiving is growing and growing due to the hard work and dedication that I put into what I do and who I believe in. In my grassroots approach, the doors are opening up for Flava News, which in turn means the doors are opening up for you, the Underground/Indie Artists.

At the end of my shows...I always ask that, "as I spread the word for you, help spread the word for Flava News." That is what I call a Win Win relationship. We all deserve to get paid for our hard work...but when the money does not exist...that is when the support of others in sharing...spreading the word comes into play as a very valuable and necessary tool. Not only for the growth of the Artist's but for the growth of those that promote the Artists.

Yes, it takes money to help support the tools we need to do what we do here at Flava News...but if you are not able to give financially...become apart of the Flava News Street Team.

WORD OF MOUTH IS A POWERFUL TOOL....SO HELP FLAVA NEWS GET OUT AND SPREAD THE WORD FOR SOME VERY DESERVING ARTIST TODAY!

Peace & Blessings,

Susan "Lady Flava" Koshi

We need to stop feeding the mainstream and start feeding the indie artists!

Carter Anderson
Soul Recording Artist
Washington D.C.

Carter Anderson is the Kentucky-born singer/songwriter who desires to explore every facet of what R&B really means. His youthful, yet soulful voice demands attention and dictates a story of love that can be appreciated by all and from which something meaningful can be taken.

He shares his love of music with producers Elise Perry, Donald King and Terry L. Lewis, who contributed to his debut album release, Not The Last Gentleman.

The album is a virtual voyage for the heart and soul. It mainly focuses its energy and attention on those who believe that, in this day and age, chivalry is dead.

"A lot of women seem to be convinced that there are no good men left," Carter Anderson says. "With Not The Last Gentleman, I want to let them know that we still exist. We still want to open their doors, pull out their chairs, and cherish their presence.

Since he was 8 years old, Carter Anderson dreamed of performing on stage and bellowing out the sweet sounds of R&B like many of his idols.

Born in Lexington, Kentucky and raised in Fort Washington, Maryland, Carter Anderson is actually named after his father. Just as on stage, Carter portrays a warm and confident spirit and it is reflected greatly in the soulful songs he has written and co-produced. Carter has long admired such greats as Donny Hathaway, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder and Brian McKnight and has performed many of their hits during his stage performance, including his visit to the world-famous Apollo theatre in New York City.

His initial album promises a true representation of his personal writings and musical style. Many of the songs - including the initial single release, "You Make My Day", for instance - were co-produced by Terry L. Lewis, who has many production credits under his belt, including television show theme songs for Black Entertainment Television. "Terry and I have worked many years together," Carter says. "When the two of us get together in the studio, its constant non-stop production. We have teamed together to produce the music he and I love to hear.

He eventually moved into the Information Technology field and started his own business developing professional websites for local businesses. In addition, he put his stimulating photography skills to use for many local models, which assisted with jump-starting their careers.

n stage, Carter has a stage presence full of energy and vibrance. His soulful voice and originally-written ballads have won over many audiences time and time again. He has had the opportunity to share the stage with artists such as Selene Lemme, Hueman Prophets, Wayna, and Tony Terry.

Carter speaks candidly about his debut album, Not the Last Gentleman: "I grew up learning to treat women the way they deserved to be treated, and I know I'm not the only man who was raised that way."

Carter is reminded every day of God’s blessings and has thanked his family and friends for the love and support they have shown throughout his music career. “It’s been a long road, with lots of ups and downs, to get this project done. A lot of deep, long-forgotten emotions have been tapped into, in order to find the right inspiration for each song. Now that the album is finally finished, I couldn’t be happier.”

Black Stax
Seattle, WA
www.blackstaxmusic.com

Black Stax is the avant-garde of hip-hop. Comprised of MCs Silas Black and Jace ECAj and vocalist Felicia Loud, Black Stax pulls lyrical inspiration from today’s news headlines and creates an eclectic, urban sound that is reminiscent of The Roots and The coup with a dash of the early Fugees and classic Janice Joplin.

In a recent review, The Stranger said “what defines Loud is…is her flawless command of the tones and textures of American Soul…what defines [the MCs] is their commitment to a hip hop that is complicated at the levels of ideas and expression, politics and language.” Black Stax makes creative, challenging and emotional music with an injection of hip hop and 70s-era soul. “Our sound is the soul of a songbird full of parables and riddles. We speak to the streets, classrooms, clubs and community,” explains Jace ECAj. "It’s more than hip hop, R&B or soul, it’s more of a classic combination like Soul 2 Soul and Groove Theory or just dope ass vibe music" adds Blak.

Besides their unparalleled sound, what sets Black Stax apart is their ability to put on a memorable live show. Individually they are veteran performers and collectively they are masters of setting a vibe and drawing in an audience.

Felicia Loud is a born performer, an impressive stage actress and has a reputation for packing live music venues both big and small. The Seattle Times called her “more than good – she’s a wonder.” Fellow Black Stax member Silas Blak explains “Felicia brings light to our darkness, clarity to women and intrigues men.”

Silas Blak and Jace ECAj, of the The Silent Lambs Project, have been a Seattle hip-hop staple since the 1990’s. ”At every Silent Lambs Project concert they remind the audience that ‘this is serious music.’ It's not ‘innocent’ ass-shaking rap, or thugged-out ‘reality’ rap, and it isn't watery ‘elevated-consciousness’ rap, either…[they] have figured out is not to make reactionary rap that provides answers, but to maintain rap as a challenge. As a result, they write complex, refreshing songs,” raved The Stranger.

A collaboration that works, Black Stax successfully blends musical genres and attracts a varied and supportive following. They have appeared at Seattle’s popular music venues such as Rendezvous Jewel Box Theater, Contour, ETG, Langston Hughes Performing Art Center, ACT and Chop Suey, at the Malcolm X Hip Hop Festival and on the national Dope Emporium Tour.

Diezel P

Hip Hop Artist
Portland, OR

Diezel P is a Portland, OR Native who has had a passion for writing as far back as he can remember. As a child he would write short fictional stories provided with illustrations to bring to life his vivid imagination. He excelled as an English and Writing student all through school and began to express his creative mind through poetry and rhyming as a teenager. His artistry to rhyme and write fell second as his persistent goal to reach the NBA grew in High School. After a series of injuries and the reality of reaching the level of professional Basketball set in, he focused his energy back on poetry and rhyming, putting out his first album in 2005. After three projects and a locally popular album titled "Write Now!" released in Fall 2008, he would be considered a notable Hip Hop artist amongst the Portland scene, and highly respected for his positive content and contributions he makes towards the community he grew up in. Diezel P has helped raise thousands of clothes, toys, funding, awareness, and food for multiple causes and organizations in Oregon, while working with various organizations, youth, and giving guest lectures at schools and events to raise awareness about issues that effect people in modern society, and the importance of spreading a positive message through Hip Hop music.
Randal "Diezel P" Wyatt attended Mt.Hood Community College from 2003-2004 to pursue a degree in Journalism, but found himself unable to finish school after unexpectedly becoming a father of twins at the early age of 19. The birth of his sons would spark his ambition to become successful, mainly gearing his journey towards becoming a Socially Conscious MC, until 2009 when he would be given an opportunity to write Hip Hop related columns for www.whatshappeningpdx.com . After a few months of writing columns and promoting local artists, he would gain respect and popularity as a writer and be presented with another resource to write for in www.oregonmusicnews,com . Diezel P is now back on the path he once followed as a student, proving that Hip Hop can be used as an outlet to benefit, educate, and positively promote the Urban community.
